. The Philosophy At Luella .

I think its appropriate to write down some of Luella's philosophies so that you get a good idea of what everything's about.

Awards

I don't believe in giving out too many awards. Because honestly, it doesn't feel much to get second place when 4 other people got first and 5 other people got second.

It's true that people need encouragement and that's why I have a variety of different awards however by giving out too many awards it can counter the encouragement effect.


Challenges

I think people should be able to participate in various different challenges and do things a little differently once in a while. This is why I spend a lot of time thinking of new ways to challenge people.

Establishing challenges is a difficult thing. Because to me, its not the just about the process of finding new celebrity pictures and making thumbnails. Along with each challenge comes a theme, a purpose and a lot of thinking is required - right down to the challenge name!


Judging

In all honesty, I would like for the public to be able to help with the judging however the whole process is extremely unpractical and takes a long time.

So essentially the judging will be done by me. And because this is a graphics contest site then of course a lot of it will be based on how visually pleasing your piece is. However keep in mind that making a pretty piece helps but sometimes you need that deeper and more meaningful dimension in your work.


Affiliating

I've mentioned somewhere on the links pages about this but I thought I'll just put this in as well.

Affiliating is a special thing and should be a genuine establishment of relationship between two sites and not a springboard for advertising to get more entries.

Its rather offensive to see people visiting a perfectly nice blend challenge and advertise their own site without even showing the slightest interest in the webmaster's site.


Updating

Time is a precious thing. I know that. So I will hope to update whenever I have enough things to update about or whenever I can.

After each challenge is over I will take anywhere between 1-7 days to get ready for the next round. As I said getting ready for the next rounds are never easy with awards and challenges to think about. 


Duration

I originally intended for Luella to last a certain amount of rounds before calling quits. The original idea was that each round represents a room in the House Of Luella and when all rooms were occupied then the House will be no more. Of course I realised that one could always make more rooms and therefore I am unsure of the idea as of this moment. 

So I don't know where that's going but I guess it will depend on how well the people like Luella and whatnot. Not to mention eventually, I will run dry on challenge ideas.
